Booster's Association Meeting
September 12, 2005
Call to Order
President Tom Loadman called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM.
Reading of Minutes
Rick Poploski read the meeting minutes from the June 6, 2005 meeting. The minutes were approved.
Financial Update
Scott Krebs provided a budget summary for the past year and projections for the upcoming season. The Boosters should start with a budget with approximately $10,000 for the coming year and with the current projections for expenditures should end the year with the same amount. The Board also agreed to purchase shoes for the freshman team this year.
Notes from the Coach
Coach Burke informed Tom there are no large expenditures for the upcoming season except to replace the gym bags that were given to the graduating seniors and to replace a few bags that were worn out. She also plans to use the bench to keep the statistics for the upcoming year so we will not hire a statistician. Coach would also like to stay overnight at the Butler Opening Tip-Off Tournament on 12/2/05. The Boosters agreed to pay for lodging ($65 per room) for the girls and coaches. She would also like the Varsity and JV to attend Challenge By Choice, which is $15 per player. Coach also discussed using Health Tracks this year for conditioning. They will have conditioning twice a week for 6 weeks beginning in October. The school will be buying new uniforms for the Varsity Team.
Committee Reports
Fundraising - The Freshman Team will be asked to sell Granny’s Pizza – 10 items, and will also sell 7 Lazarus Coupons.
Entertainment Books - Chuck Wilson advised the Boosters that 100 books have been sold to date. There are still 10 boxes to sell and anyone who has not picked up their box should do so immediately.
Golf Outing - The Golf Outing was a great success this year, netting $4148 to date.
Program Adds - Dayna Hester will have the envelops for the program ads at the next Booster Meeting, which will be October 3rd. It is important that all Boosters attend this meeting to pick up their packets. This is one of our biggest fundraisers and it is important that all girls participate in this fundraiser.
New Business
Tom discussed mailing a letter to all Girls Basketball Boosters to discuss the importance of fund raising and to set goals for each girl, either through participation in each fundraiser or raising a minimum amount of money.
Muffin Sale – It was also suggested that the girls could hold a bake sale in school. We could purchase muffins at Sam’s Club for the girls to sell before school. The 3 dates for this sale will be October 21, March 31, and April 12.
The basketball clinic will be October 29th at the high school.
The Butler Shootout will be November 5th . Players are responsible for their own transportation since this is preseason.
Meet the Team will be November 29th. Tom would like to get the Bugle Corps to participate.
Promotion Night – We would like to have promotion or sponsor night at the girl’s home games. This would be to recognize the different girls’ basketball teams – The Catholic Grade School Teams, the Rec league Teams, Middle School Teams and the Travel Teams. We are trying to have free admission for the girls as long as an adult accompanies them or their team.
Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at 8:25 PM. The next meeting will be held October 3rd, at 7:30 PM in Room 1104.
