Booster's Association Meeting
December 6, 2004
Call to Order
President Darlene Gratton called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM.
Reading of Minutes
Audrey Glowacki read the meeting minutes for the November 1, 2004 meeting. The minutes were approved.
Financial Update
Treasurer Scott Krebs provided a budget summary. Total income is about $18,000 versus a budget of $25,000. The shortfall is due to a combination of not meeting earning expectations and scheduled fundraisers that haven't occurred yet..
There will not be a statistician this year. The girls are keeping the records now and Coach Burke double-checks them against the game film. Two cameras were purchased for this purpose. The boosters may get reimbursed for one of them, depending on Coach Burke's budget.
Darlene Gratton recommends that the boosters attend the school board meetings to press for an athletic director. The lack of a director is causing us problems.
Notes from the Coach
Tip-off Tournament – Darlene Gratton acknowledged that Don Gratton did a lot of work organizing the tournament and the Rodgers put a lot of effort into the concession stand. We are still owed $140 from other schools. The boosters may want to raise prices next year, perhaps to $5 and $3, if the boys don't participate. Normally, the Athletic Director seeks out teams for the tournament; planning for next year's tournament usually begins right after the present one, with letters mailed out in May to schools that attended the previous year.
Program Book – Dana Hester reported that we exceeded our projected sales goals, bringing in over $6,935 in ads. We don't have a final cost yet, but we should net our expected $4,500. Thank you letters are ready for sellers to drop off or mail to the donors.
Lazarus Coupons – Patty Loadman reported that the next Lazarus coupon day is March 13.
Granny's Pizza Sale for 9th Graders – Darlene Gratton will get information from Granny's tomorrow. Each 9th grader is expected to sell 10 pizzas. Hoodies will be purchased for the 9th graders in about two weeks at $25 each.
Hawk Fest (Meet the Players Night) – The evening was a huge success. Dana Hester suggested that we may want to allow parents to come next year as there was so much food. However, Patty Loadman said that might be too many people.
Concessions and 50/50 – The concession stand needs to open earlier, perhaps around 6PM. Scott Krebs suggested that we might want to reduce the menu from two hot items to just one on slow game nights. Concerning the two games on Thursday: Darlene Gratton said a deal was made that boys will get the concession money and girls will get the 50/50.
