Coaching Clearances and Pledge

The best way for anyone to get all the necessary clearances for coaching is to go to the Diocesan website (diopitt.org). Choose Protection of Children at the top of the page. On the next page, choose School Volunteer and complete all 5 steps.

The first step in the process is to register in the Safe Environment Database. The access code for new users to the database is PROTECT. When you register in the database that will get the State Police Clearance requirement done for you.

Every school has a Safe Environment Coordinator. You can find the contact information for yours on the Diocese's Safe Environment Compliance page. For any questions on obtaining clearances contact your Safe Environment Coordinator.

Other optional coach requirements include:

  • Annual Coaches Pledge and Review - Lists what a good Catholic school coach must do. Your school may require you to sign this.
  • Play Like A Champion Today clinic - may be required for all Head Coaches - Play Like A Champion Todayâ„¢ offers an athlete-centered, research-based approach to coaching. The Athletic Director for the Catholic Schools Elementary Sports Program may announce local clinic times and locations.
