League Notices


League Sign Up Information - below are the instrcutions for entering your school’s teams to participate in the Diocese of Pittsburgh Girls’ Basketball League for the 2018-2019 season. The web site is http://www.2badcats.com/dopgbball/.

Requirements for Each School
  1. Complete On-Line Team Data Sheet ASAP: http://www.2badcats.com/dopgbball/teamdatasheet.aspx. Verify your schools data sheet information on the website. If necessary, make any changes and submit the data sheet. If the information is already correct just submit the data sheet. We will use this information to enroll your school’s teams in the league. Important: if you do not submit your school’s information on the website by October 15, 2018, we will assume that your school will not be participating in the diocesan league this season. If you have questions about the above process, please call either Chris Vallecorsa (412-782-2861) or Pat Greb (412-531-2579).
     
  2. Submit Roster: Use the form found on the website: http://www.2badcats.com/dopgbball/forms.aspx. Complete the roster form and email or mail it to either Chris Vallecorsa for Varsity or Pat Greb for JV along with your league fee (see below #3). If your roster information is not available, once you complete the roster, email or mail to either Chris Vallecorsa for Varsity of Pat Greb for JV along with your league fee (see below #3) by November 1, 2018.
     
  3. Payment of the League Fees: JV - $50.00, check made payable to Pat Greb, 536 Old Farm Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15234; Varsity - $50.00, check made payable to Chris Vallecorsa, 1149 Oglethorpe St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201
     
  4. Review the League Rules: The rules at http://www.2badcats.com/dopgbball/rulesandconduct.aspx. Print these league rules and use them for reference before and during the season.

Coaches, we are having our 2nd Annual Catholic School Tip-Off Tournament at Aquinas Academy, November 15-17, 2018; November 15 and 17: 7th-8th Grade Boys Tournament (6 teams); November 16 and 17: 7th-8th Grade Girls Tournament (6 teams); All boys' teams will play twice on Thursday, November 15 and all girls' teams will play twice on Friday, November 16. Games on Thursday and Friday will be used to seed teams for a single-loss elimination tournament for both boys and girls on Saturday, November 17. $150 fee per team includes includes trophies for the Team Champion and Team Runner-Up, All-Tournament Team and Tournament MVP. Blessed Trinity Academy invites you to participate in the Blessed Trinity Classic basketball tournament for Varsity (grades 7 and 8) boys and girls teams and Junior Varsity (grades 5 and 6) boys and girls teams. St. Thomas More Catholic School in Bethel Park invites you to their 11th Annual Fall Harvest Basketball Tournament. Join us from November 8-11 for the Varsity (7/8 grade) Boys and Girls Tournament. Join us November 15-18 for the JV (5/6 grade) Boys and Girls Tournament. Three game minimum. Team awards for first and second place. Join us for a fun filled weekend with many Chinese auction baskets to win, 50/50 raffles, half-court shot contests,  a well-stocked concession stand with specialty food items, and ample free parking. St James Cougar Christmas Classic Tournament - Join us for our annual St James Holiday hoops tournament. Open to both A and B Girls Varsity Teams (separate tournaments). Guaranteed 2 game minimum. Games played December 22 and 26 through December 29. Registration is $135 for the first team, and $110 for each additional team. Additional details and registration form to follow. Camps


Each year CYO recommends summer overnight basketball camps conducted in a safe environment. We have examined and evaluated these camps for Cost, Expertise in Instruction, Amount of Games, Tournaments, Improvement, Facilities, and 24 Hour around-the-clock supervision. The camps on the attached flyer have continued to be approved and recommended by the CYO as overnight camps that have the highest level of skill development that will improve each individual to their fullest potential and prepare them to be a future High School player. The recommended camps are listed as the best instructional camps concentrating on the fundamentals of basketball. Clinics


Since 2006 PITTSBURGH PRIDE HOOPS’ primary focus has always been to develop the basketball skills and fundamentals of our players.  We want to help our players become the very best basketball players that they can be.  We have weekly basketball workouts every Sunday for both boys and girls from grades 4 through high school.  Please see the flyer for more information.  We also offer 1-on-1 and small group workouts (which can be focused on basketball-only drills or can also include some speed, agility, and quickness training). Special Events


The University of Pittsburgh Basketball Programs invite you to come out and participate in halftime scrimmages at our men’s and women’s basketball games here at the University of Pittsburgh. This year we are inviting teams to participate as "Benchwarmers", where they can sit on the Pitt team bench before the game as well as participate in halftime scrimmages. Coaching Positions


Northside Catholic Assumption Academy is seeking to fill Coaching Positions for our Varsity and Junior Varsity Girls and Boys Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Cross Country and Cheerleading teams. Candidates must be willing and have the ability to obtain current ACT 34 and ACT 151 clearances, attend and complete the Protecting God's Children seminar and complete the Mandatory Reporter Training. The two classes are now both available on-line. The successful candidate will have the sport acumen for the position which they are applying, had prior coaching or organized playing experience for the position which they are applying, and enjoy working with children in grades 4-8.
